Cooperation with foreign laboratories and international organizations is constantly being developed in order to improve the professionalism and competence of the staff of the laboratories operating under the Azerbaijan Food Safety Institute (AFSI). Laboratory specialists regularly participate in trainings abroad and exchange experience.

Great importance is attached to the establishment of relations and cooperation with Turkish laboratories in the field of plant health in the mutual exchange of experience. At present, 6 Turkish specialists work at the Central Phytosanitary Laboratory under the AFSI to ensure the implementation of the measures indicated in the Protocol of the meetings of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey. Specialists perform entomological, herbolological, bacteriological, mycological, virological and other examinations together and share their knowledge and experience in plant growing and plant protection with the staff of the Central Phytosanitary Laboratory. In addition, phytopathogenic viruses with phytosanitary risk are examined with the participation of AFSI specialists.

It should be noted that in order to ensure food security and protect the health of the population in the country, necessary measures are regularly taken to bring the laboratories of the Azerbaijan Food Safety Institute in line with international standards.
