Bananas are considered one of the most important fruits in the world due to their taste and rich nutritional value. Bananas grown in tropical countries are mostly consumed in Ecuador, Costa Rica, Colombia, the Philippines and India. The banana, which we call a tree 8-9 meters high, is actually a perennial herb. Although yellow fruits are more common, there are red, pink, and even purple varieties. Bananas can be eaten fresh, sometimes fried or mashed, as well as dried and canned. It is also widely used in the production of syrups, marmalades, banana flour and wine.

What are the adventages of bananas?

Bananas have nourishing properties. It is filling because it is rich in fiber. Bananas can be eaten unripe, underripe, ripe or overripe. As it contains protein and carbohydrates, its nutritional value is equal to that of eggs. As bananas ripen, their glucose content increases. Ripe bananas contain more than 22% of carbohydrates and fiber, potassium, manganese, vitamins A, B6, B12, C and E. At the same time, as an energy-booster fruit, bananas are an ideal choice for increasing the energy, especially in the case of anorexia. Bananas are rich in potassium and have a positive effect on kidney function. High in potassium and low in salt, it also helps regulate blood pressure. It is also useful for cardiovascular diseases and has a stabilizing effect on intestinal problems (diarrhea). However, when taken in excess, it leads to constipation.

What causes blood-like discoloration in bananas?

Recently, a red spot is sometimes observed inside bananas. There are scary information about such bananas on social networks. Bananas allegedly contain the blood of AIDS patients. In fact, it is a sign of phytopathogenic diseases caused by fungi and bacteria. The main symptom of the disease is the formation of a dry and wrinkled part of the fruit with a reddish-brown color inside the fruit, which looks normal from the outside. It should be noted that these phytopathogenic diseases only harm plants and no adverse effects on human health have been identified. Because bananas spoil very quickly, it is recommended to be eaten when peeled.
